There are handful of indices prepared by reputed organizations worldwide to measure the social and economic progress of the countries. These organizations, including World Bank, World Economic Forum , United Nations and even The Economist are publishing various reports on an annual basis. For an instance, Human Development Index (HDI) is prepared by the United Nations (UNDP) and it is an important indicator of a countries' standard of living.
